About us

We work with partners, stakeholders and volunteers to improve wellbeing and create a more equitable community in and around Ludlow.

We do this by focusing on four primary objectives: addressing isolation and loneliness, addressing poor health and wellbeing, addressing poor quality of life and strengthening local community infrastructure.

By bringing volunteers and beneficiaries together through a range of services, we fill the gaps, provide opportunities and support the community to help itself.

Hosting a range of activities at our community building, including Ludlow Men’s Shed and the Community Fridge, we are at the heart of volunteering in the town.

Our core work includes:

  1. Partnerships, Networking and Volunteering: We connect our community by bringing a wide range of people, local organisations, groups and businesses together to find and implement solutions.

  2. Project work: From the Food Hub and the Men’s Shed to Company At Christmas; coordinated by Hands Together Ludlow and delivered with volunteers, we run a wide variety of projects and activities. Projects are developed and delivered to fill an identified need, develop solutions, and deliver services and activities.

Our vision is for a happy, hospitable, compassionate, and just community which helps people help themselves, and our mission is to provide a more effective community process for achieving this vision.

We do this by creating a network of volunteers which works with agencies, charitable and community organisations, local businesses to identify and provide relief to people in need and find community-building solutions in Ludlow and surrounding villages.

Our values reflect the behaviours we want to see in the community:

Respect for people. We value all those with whom we work, aiming to promote a more equal and just society. We treat people with compassion, generosity and grace; at the same time motivating them to use their own experience and wisdom to gain independence and seek opportunities for themselves.

Well run services. We provide high quality services with professional standards and procedures, including safeguarding and training for volunteers as needed. We keep to any confidentiality agreements with the people we work with.

Partnering. We work alongside partner organisations and professional agencies avoiding duplication and unnecessary red tape for the benefit of the local community.

Ethical and sustainable. We strive to work only with agencies and companies which share our values and principles. We seek sustainability through independent fund raising.

Growing ambition. We aim to grow our new building so it becomes the focus for:

  • The community to get help and support,
  • Volunteering activity and opportunities (and not just those with us)
  • Support
