Volunteers are an important and valued part of Hands Together LUDLOW. For many people, our volunteers are the public face of the charity, so it is important to maintain high standards at all times. Every volunteer working individually is therefore expected to hold a current DBS safeguarding certificate, which we can easily arrange for you. This is not usually required if volunteers are working in groups eg. when running a Lunch Club.
From time to time we will run a core training programme which every volunteer is expected to attend at least once. This ‘mentoring training’ covers the basic elements of volunteering, including: communication skills; the importance of boundaries and confidentiality; lone working and staying safe.
We will also endeavour to provide any other training you may need.
In the past our volunteers have attended the following training courses, as appropriate: Safer Food Handler Course; Food Hygiene Certificate; Safeguarding Training; Affordable Warmth (Fuel Poverty Training); Volunteer Driver Training (MiDAS minibus training); First Aid Courses.
